Additional Details:
The Genesis Technologies Digital Lens was one of the most sonically successful digital processors ever made. Designed to fit between a CD transport and a Digital / Analogue converter (DAC), its purpose is to reduce the “digital” sound of CD, allowing for a more musical “analogue” style musical presentation. Taking the digital data stream from a CD transport, it first strips away all the extraneous information on the CD (of which there is a surprising amount), leaving only the data which contains the musical information. This is then reconstituted, very accurately re-clocked to reduce jitter to a minimum before being output to the DAC. Additionally there is the facility to add two kinds of dither to the data stream and increase the digital word length to 20 bit.
A hugely well regarded component within the Hi Fi community, it was a Stereophile Magazine Class A recommended component throughout its production and makes a significant and audible musical improvement to the reproduction of CDs. It was designed by Paul Mcgowan, now of PS Audio fame.
When new the unit cost in the region of £1,500. It is in unmarked condition.
