Sony SCD-777=SCD-1

Additional Details:

This is one very unique SCD-777 which has been transformed into an SCD-1, it has the original SCD-1 balanced PCB with fully upgraded components (Black Gates N caps, Vishay Dale resistors, LME49720HA op-amps, auricaps and Wima caps).

Please Note: This player is optimized with Balanced outputs only (no RCA connectors). However a pair of XLR to RCA adapters for normal RCA cables is included (this player sound much better via the XLR outputs).

Beside the balanced board, this SCD-777/SCD-1 has been upgraded with over 800 components in every section. Some of the best components in it are Audio Note UK TANTALUM RESISTORS, 627OP-AMP, Audiocom Super clock 4 with dedicated power supply, Audiocom Super-regulator 3 (x8), Black Gate FK/K series Mundorf MCap SUPREME silver/gold/oil, silver wire and Duelund VSF capacitors on the output stage.

(Best capacitors in the world, http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Cap.html)

The sound is equal or better than a 10K SACD Player. It has been compared with the Reimyo CDP-777 and the new Audio Research REFERENCE CD8, the SCD-777=SCD-1 sound performance was better.

Reference:

I have heard this amazing player in our showroom.

For the showroom here is a link:

I must say that compared to my stock Reimyo CDP-777 the Sony was the clear winner on bass and slam, both on SACD and redbook. The highs were also absolutely stunning especially on SACD. The only point were the Reimyo was better was the width of the soundstage, here the Sony is more on the dense side.

It needs some time operating on the power lines to shine.

I was considering of buying the unit, but it does not have that status like the Reimyo which is important for our showroom.

But I am now starting to mod the Reimyo to bring it to the same level of performance.

Best regards

Rainer Weber
